3 Reasons why Converge Should Be Your Internet Provider for Your Freelancing Career

We all know this. Internet in the Philippines s*cks. How many times have you experienced disconnecting during crucial moments like a client skype interview or when sending that important document?

Stable and reliable internet is the lifeblood of our freelancing career. It’s just frustrating considering the high price tag we pay. I mean we are ranked 97 out of 100 countries in the 2019 Inclusive Internet Index.

We are ranked 103 over 139 in the Speedtest Global Index. And one of the most expensive at rank 88 over 195. I don’t want to point fingers. (There are only two major players to point to.) But as Filipinos, instead of just ranting, why not find a solution to it?

And Converge might be the solution you are looking for.

Who is Converge

Who is Converge?

If you don’t know already, Converge is one of the fastest-growing Fiber Internet providers in the Philippines. They boast blazing fast speeds at affordable prices. Here are 3 reasons why you Converge should be your internet provider for your freelancing career.

Value for Money

Compared to the competition, Converge pricing starts at 1500 PHP at 25MBPS. With the other Telcos, that can only get you 5 to 10 MBPS. Talk about value for money. Here are the basic plans available for consumers.

As freelancers, we don’t really need ultra-fast internet all the time. We just need a reliable one when we need it the most.

But if you can have it, why not? For the most basic plan, Converge starts at 25 MBPS and can go up until 150 MBPS. There are even extreme plans at 300 MBPS to 450 MBPS. That’s more than enough bandwidth for our flourishing profession.

Worst Case 30% of the Plan Speed

Most telcos will promise 80% reliability of the service. But does it even happen? I can tell you how many times we don’t have internet just because it was raining or whatever technical problem they are having. There was a time I only got 1 week worth of internet for close to 6 months. It’s that bad.

Converge promises to be reliable at all times. But in the worst case, you get 30% of the plan speed on high-peak hours. If you get the 25 MBPS plan, that’s still faster than the cheapest plans on other Telcos at their FULL SPEED.

Not bad, Converge. Not bad.

Cons: Limited Coverage

The only problem with converge right now is coverage. Not every area is serviceable. Today, the service area spans to Metro Manila, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, Zambales, Pampanga, and Tarlac.

If you are lucky to have Converge in your area, you should definitely switch now!

I’ve been rooting for this provider, unfortunately, I’m in Cebu and my only choice is Globe. I currently have 50Mbps, but what really got me interested about Converge (which you forgot to mention) is symetric speed. I’ve heard about this in the talk that was given by Converge in WR. And I think that is what really sets them apart. I wouldn’t give a second thought to switch once they become available in Cebu or even in Butuan.
