Take That All-Important First Step

Like most plans, your first step is crucial to your success.  The snowball effect will work to your advantage in this case. Think about ways to embark on that side hustle you’ve been dreaming of and go for it.

Want to write a book? Start with the first page. Looking to launch your blog? Get a domain and write your first entry. Want to sell some clothes online? Start taking pictures and upload them to your media of choice.

Your first step may be the most difficult thing you’ll ever do. But, when you’ve got things moving, you’ll thank yourself in the process. Here’s how to stop procrastinating and use the 2-minute rule.

Tell Your Best Friend or Someone You Are Close to

Telling your best friend is a motivator. Sharing your plans with someone you trust and love and who loves you will get you the support you need for your dream.

That side hustle will look less like an insurmountable mountain and will seem more doable when you’ve got a friend supporting you on. You will surely succeed if you’ve got your very own support system. Plus, you will find that you owe it to yourself to pursue what you have started, especially now that the cat is out of the bag.

Letting your best friend in on your plans may just be the wisest thing you will ever do when it comes to your dreams. Doors will open and you’ll be happy and content as you work on your side hustle with your best friend by your side.

Surround Yourself With Positive People

Spend more time with people who build you up. Avoid negative people as they will only bring you down and get you discouraged about your dream. Positive people will cheer you on.

Some Filipinos drag others down with them, especially when they see someone succeeding and they’re not. We call this the crab mentality. This is what you should avoid. These envious people are not who you should be hanging out with.

Running with the right crowd will bring you places you never would’ve imagined. The right people will motivate you and keep you going even against all odds.

These same people will help keep your eyes on the prize and get you places as you work on your passion project. You’ll be constantly encouraged to keep moving forward towards your success.

Join Relevant Groups Online

There are many online groups that you can join to broaden your horizon. Whether on social media or other online means, you will find the support you need with these groups.

There are also other groups that you can join. Business groups or networking groups that meet in person will also help you get started.

Meeting like-minded people will give you enough push to get started on your side hustle. Plus, they will help you with your direction as they share their experience, which may prove quite useful to you as you embark on your freelancing career.

Invest in a Business Workshop

Networking with like-minded people is also possible when you invest in a business workshop. It may cost a little or even a bundle but the experience you will learn will be quite useful to your dream project.

For instance, if you want to sell stuff online, it helps to learn about e-commerce and social media marketing. If you’re into writing, you could join a content marketing course.

The possibilities are endless for these workshops if you know where to look and which ones you’d like to join. Check out this seminar from Tony Robbins on how to start your own business:

Another workshop you can invest in is, of course, the Working Remote Conference 2019. It’s the biggest remote working remote summit in the Philippines featuring high caliber speakers from here and abroad. Get a Mentor

Whatever you choose to do, it helps to consult someone who’s been there and done that. A mentor or guru will guide you gently where you need to go.

Both offline and online mentors will also help you navigate the confusing paths of your chosen career. Some life coaches will help you get motivated to launching that freelance career you’ve always wanted.

Mentors are there to gently nudge you in the right direction. They will help you along and get you organized and ready to pursue your dreams. Here’s a video that shows you how to find a mentor and how to get mentored by great minds:

Create a Dreamboard

This one is a doozy. Putting up pictures or creating dream boards and looking at them every day will motivate you to try harder and keep moving towards your dreams. Image and dream boards make a statement of what you want to see in the future. They will, in turn, be your stimuli towards achieving your goals.

Your future self will surely thank you as you embark on your side hustle with your dreams in sight. Keep yourself motivated with images of what you want to achieve in the future. This video shows you how to make the perfect dream board or vision board:
